NABA supports creative freedom and warrants fair and inclusive places of work and study. Media Design and New Technologies Area adopted the Rules for Ethical Behaviour in the Audiovisual Field - a charter by Women in Film, Television & Media Italia (WIFTMI) association. Such an initiative supporting women's rights is only the latest collaboration between NABA and WIFTMI.
The collaboration between the Academy and WIFTMI
The first Women in Film (WIF) association was founded in Los Angeles in the 1970s in response to male dominance in the film industry. WIF landed in Italy in 2018, becoming a landmark for gender equality in the audiovisual industry. The non-profit association encourages a non-stereotypical and multidimensional representation of women in audiovisual and media content. With the adoption of the Rules for Ethical Behaviour in the Audiovisual Field, the Media Design and New Technologies Area commits to training future audiovisual professionals through a free, creative and gender-respectful approach.
The charter signature further consolidates the relationship between NABA and WIFTMI. The two organisations have already joined forces for Z-PITCH and the new Academic Master in Screenwriting for Series starting at the Rome campus from October 2022* (link to master). The last chance to collaborate was the talk addressing the issue of the gender lens in audiovisual content - an event held on May 18 as part of the ON/OFF Cinema Talks series. During the event, association president Domizia De Rosa and Maria Grazia Li Bergoli (Project Manager of TV and Film productions) explained the WIFTMI gender analysis methodology. They provided an overview of the association's pragmatic approach to available tools for informed and creative choices.
