In over 40 years of history, numerous awards and accolades credited NABA as a prominent institution at an international level. NABA has been selected as the Best Italian Academy of Fine Arts in the Top 100 worldwide in Art & Design field in the QS World University Rankings® by Subject. Since 2021 it is Partner, along with the best European universities, of the interdisciplinary cultural project “New European Bauhaus”, promoted by the European Commission to build a sustainable future for the new generations. In 2024, NABA hosted the Biennial powered by ELIA, European League of Institutes of the Arts — a network for exchange and professional development in higher arts education, representing over 260 members in 48 countries. From 2023 NABA is also part of Cumulus Association, the leading global association to serve art and design education and research. This underlines the recognition of the NABA’s commitment and ability to play a pivotal role among the major cultural institutions. Furthermore, over the years, the Academy was also included for its academic offer in the main sector rankings:

  • Selected by Frame Publishers in its Masterclass guide to the 30 best graduate schools in the world: in 2012 (MA in Design - Specialization in Product Design), in 2013 (MA in Fashion and Textile Design), in 2014 (MA in Design – Specialization in Interior Design).
  • Mentioned by Domus Magazine in the guide Europe’s Top 100 Schools of Architecture and Design in 2014, 2015, 2016.
  • Ranked in BOF – Business of Fashion – Global Fashion School Ranking 2016, in the Top 50 ranking for Undergraduate Courses (BA) and Top 25 for Graduate Courses (MA). In 2017, NABA reached again the Top 30 for Graduate Courses (MA).
2024
  • December - Elisa Bertagnin, Eleonora D'Agaro, Marianna Carrafa, students of the BA in Graphic Design and Art Direction were awarded the first prize at epda Junior Award Future Packaging 2024 with their project Taboo

  • November - Petrolia by Giulia Mancassola has been selected in the NEW TALENT section of FIPADOC25, an international Festival dedicated to documentaries.

  • November - ALPHA, short film and thesis project by Anteros Marra, an alumnus of the BA in Film and Animation Anteros Marra and Salicornia, short film and thesis project by Gaia Longobardi, an alumna of the same BA.

  • November - Parlando a un ritratto by Noah Zoratti, student of the BA in Film and Animation was screened in the Prospettive Contest of Filmmaker Festival.

  • November - Petrolia by Giulia Mancassola was selected in the Doc at Work – Future Campus section of Festival del popoli 2024, the most important International festival dedicated to documentaries in Italy and the most ancient in Europe.
  • November - The twelfth edition of the Lorenzo Bonaldi Prize for Art – EnterPrize, the prestigious international award dedicated to curators under 30, established by GAMeC in 2003 with the support of the Bonaldi Group and born from the desire to honor Lorenzo Bonaldi’s passion for art and collecting, was won by Visual Arts Area student Greta Martina with the exhibition project Fossi io teco; e perderci nel verde. 

  • November - SHIMBALAIE, a fashion film by the BA in Fashion Design alumnus Matteo Frasca, was selected as a finalist at the last edition of A Shaded View On Fashion Film (ASVOFF). 

  • October - NABA student Beatrice Signorelli was awarded at Granny's Pet Award Design, a contest promoted by Quattrozampeinfiera and Quartieri tranquilli under the Patronage of ADI, the Association for Industrial Design.

  • October - CONDOMINIO N°IMX172 by Gaia Longobardi, student of Media Design and New Technologies Area was screened at the Rome Film Fest.

  • October - Largohen Dallëndyshet by Deni Neli was selected at TIFF - Tirana International Film Festival, an Academy Awards qualifying film festival and one of the major annual events in Tirana.

  • October - Global Fashion Graduate Show Mexico City 2024 featured the Chroma Femmes collection by Anastasia Aversani, a BA in Fashion Design student.

  • October - Petrolia by Giulia Mancassola was awarded the Canais TVCine prize, Green Years section, at Doclisboa - XXII International Film Festival.

 

  • October - The students of the MA in Visual Design and Integrated Marketing Communication in the Rome campus Giulia Cirillo and Benedetta De Rosa were awarded a Silver prize at ADCI Awards for their project Eargasm.

     

     

     

  • October - The project by the students of the BA in Film and Animation Largohen Dallëndyshet by Deni Neli, Petrolia by Giulia Mancassola and Kaliz by Irene Z'graggen have been awarded the Best Short Film ONDE CORTE – PANORAMA ITALIA at Alice nella Città, an independent and parallel section of the Rome Film Festival focused on debuts, talent, and new generations.

  • September Fashion Design Area students Beatrice Mazza and Barbara Madeiros were awarded the Best Student Fashion Film award at the New York City International Fashion Film Festival 2024.
  • September - Marco Talarico, alumnus of the BA in Film and Animation was awarded the Best Technical Contribution Award in the SIC@SIC section at the Venice International Film Critic Award during the Venice International Film Festival with his project At Least I Will Be 8 294 400 Pixel.
  • July - Two groups of Master of Arts in Visual Design and Integrated Marketing Communication students were awarded at the D&AD New Blood Awards 2024. The group consisting of Milan campus students Luigi Centenaro, Vritika Gautam, Louis Kempenich, and Ivan Lichko under the guidance of NABA lecturers Nico Carrassi, Lorenzo Branchi, and Dario Marongiu, received a Wood Pencil for the project Stop Fossil FuelEargasm, a project by Rome campus students Giulia Cirillo and Benedetta De Rosa, created under the guidance of NABA lecturer Massimiliano Traschitti, was also awarded a Wood Pencil.
  • June - The educational project of the Academic Master in Sustainable Innovation Communication, within the Premio Eccellenza Formazione PEF dell’Associazione Italiana Formatori (AIF) won the 2nd prize for the Area Economy, Production Processes, and Sustainability and the mention ORIENTARE VERSO UNA VISIONE SISTEMICA E INTERCONNESSA PER RAPPRESENTARE LA REALTÀ. For the same award, the project created within the Design Marathon, born from the collaboration with Gruppo FNM, received the mention CREATIVITÀ, COINVOLGIMENTO, ENERGIA, awarded by the Area Communication and Culture.
  • June – The students from the BA in Graphic Design and Art Direction participated in the Socially Correct 2024 competition, this year titled "Notte Brava. Una movida sicura per tutte e tutti". Two students from NABA Campus in Rome, Rebecca Geri, who worked as Art Director, and Camilla Pietrosanto, in the role of Copywriter, were selected as winners. Their communication project was supervised by Assunta Squitieri and Alessio Natale Ferri (NABA lecturers).
  • May - The third edition of the Z-PITCH, the competition aimed at students and recent graduates of the Schools of Cinema and Media Design in Italy, intended to enhance the education and creativity of the new generation in the audiovisual field, awarded NABA alumna of the BA in Film and Animation Martina Lorusso with her project Where You Remember
  • May – NABA alumnus Lorenzo Seghezzi is among the four winners of the grant 2024 of the Camera moda fashion trust, the project by Camera nazionale della moda italiana to support emerging brands.
  • March - Sofia Baldi Pighi, alumna of the MA in Visual Arts and Curatorial Studies, is the Artistic Director of the first edition of the Malta Biennale (from March 13 to May 31, 2024). Among the invited artists are NABA alumni Camilla Alberti, Gaia De Megni, and Matteo Messina.
  • January – NABA alumna Alice Ronchi is the winner of the 46th edition of the Matteo Olivero Award. Promoted by the Amleto Bertoni Foundation, the Municipality of Saluzzo, and Esperienza srl. The award, under the Artistic Direction of Stefano Raimondi, assigns a permanent installation in a space in Saluzzo to an artist selected by a jury.
2023
  • November – Students of the BA in Graphic Design and Art Direction won numerous awards in the 2023 edition of the epda JUNIOR AWARD. The projects, awarded during drupa in Düsseldorf, were curated by NABA lecturers Luca Giulio Ferreccio, Fabrizio Bottarelli Bernasconi, and Paolo Cazzola. Sawce, by Pietro Cosimo Cappellini, Mattia Carabella, and Rebecca Casati, won the Junior Golden Award 2023; Miagolio by Camilla Scaramuzzi, Lucia Marina Tomasi, Sofia Tumino, and Simone Zalambani, won the Silver Award; Oryzon by Simone Almasio, Jacopo Porro, Anna Puffi, and Simona Raco, won the Bronze Award.

  • November - The 43rd edition of Filmmaker Festival featured two short films developed by the students of the BA in Film and Animation: Lacrime di Terra by Manuele Granelli, Ettore Rinaldi, and Francesca Venzano, and Il Cortile by Riccardo Stabilini, screened at the Arcobaleno Cinema in Milan.

  • November - Kore, the thesis project of our student Fabiana Russo from the BA in Film and Animation, was selected at the 41st Torino Film Festival in the Spazio Italia section.

  • November - Maieti the thesis project by Daniele Caruso and Matteo Boscolo Gioachina, alumni of the BA in Film and Animation, has been awarded the Best Short Film ONDE CORTE – PANORAMA ITALIA at Alice nella Città, an independent and parallel section of the Rome Film Festival focused on debuts, talent, and new generations. Alumnus Anteros Marra's project Alpha was also selected in the same category.

  • October – Now in its third edition, the il Premio Massimiliano Galliani per il Disegno Under 35, an important initiative dedicated to drawing, was awarded to Silvia Listorti, alumna NABA.

  • August – NABA alumnus Federico Dematté was selected at SIC@SIC at Venice International Film Critic Award during the Venice International Film Festival with his thesis project realised within the BA in Film and Animation Pinoquo, produced by Nieminem and Premiere Film.

  • July - Two groups of students of the MA in Visual Design and Integrated Marketing Communication were awarded at the D&AD New Blood Awards 2023. The group composed by students Giulia Morazzo, Ilaria Rando, Valentina Rolleri, Edoardo Usai, Irene Zamboni, under the guidance of NABA Lecturers Luca Campagnoli, Giorgia Malandrino, received a Wood Pencil for the project Get Shark Confident Campaign based on the brief received by Gymshark. Michela Ciandrini, Martina Cinefra, Giulia Magnani are the students awarded with the Graphite Pencil for the project The Missing Object based on the brief received by eBay, with the same lecturers.  

 

  • June - The Future scenarios course of the BA in Graphic Design and Art Direction was awarded the Menzione Comunicazione e Cultura (Communication and Culture Mention) by AIF (Associazione Italiana Formatori) Jury for the communication quality within PEF Premio Eccellenza e Formazione.

  • June - Design Area students were awarded two prizes at MM Award 2023 – International creative award. Sara Fesa received the Gold prize – interior design – students with her project CRESCERE INSIEME (Growing Together), Cagla Enginer the Gold prize – product design – students with the project FLUSSO and Tommaso Chiusi a special mention – “best creative is” with the project OCEAN NETS.

  • June - Many students and alumni of the BA in Film and Animation from both Milan and Rome campus have been selected between 13.000 filmmakers coming from 120 different countries at the prestigious Student World Impact Film Festival. The short film Miasma by alumna TianTian He has received a special mention.

  • June - NABA Communication and Graphic Design Area was awarded at the XXII edition of the Spot School Award, Mediterranean Creativity Festival - The Youngest Award, the international competition for students comes from the collaboration between Caritas Italiana, AIDO and other partners. The Academy students won three Bronze and the Silver School Trophy.
  • June - Fashion Design Area students Matteo Iervolino, Lucrezia Bruno, Laura A. Allegro, Giada Paluzzi and Gianfranco Tittarelli were selected for UNTAGGED GFW23 Catwalk Show, promoted by Graduate Fashion Week International. Matteo Iervolino’s project was also turned into an NFT.
  • May - The screenplay by Lucia Marinelli, MA in Creative Media Production student, won the Premio Claudio Nobis at the Nastri d'Argento 2023 edition with Ashes to Ashes – I panni sporchi si lavano nel bosco. In addition, among the finalist shorts in the Fiction section was Battima by Federico Dematté, NABA alumnus.
  • May - Simona Kyosovska, alumna of Fashion Design Area was selected within the semi-finalists of Redress Design Award 2023, for her menswear collection VISION HOARDER.
  • March - In 2023, for the third year in a row, NABA has been selected as the Best Italian Academy of Fine Arts in the Top 100 worldwide in Art & Design field in the QS World University Rankings® by Subject.
2022
  • December - Alice Pacor and Mario Penxho, students of the BA in Graphic Design and Art Direction, won the contest launched by Blue Note with their proposal for the renovation of the brand’s historical logo. 
  • November - Giorgia Bucci, student of the BA in Film and Animation, wins the Student Award of the Milano Design Film Festival (MDFF), the contest inspired by Unknown Unknowns. An Introduction to Mysteries — the 23rd International Exhibition of Triennale Milano, with her project Gravity. Seven projects created by NABA students were selected and screened during the festival.
  • November - POP! Abitare, voce del verbo Popolare, the editorial project born from the collaboration with MM Spa, is part of the ADI Design Index 2022 edition. It and a related video were among the selected works, research and design products on show at the ADI Design Museum in Milan. The exhibition also took place in the ADI Design Index exhibition in Rome at the Istituto Enciclopedia Italiana Treccani.
  • November – The students of the BA in Graphic Design and Art Direction were awarded many prizes in the 2022 edition of the epda JUNIOR AWARD. Sara Bellesini, Serge Forgione and Riccardo Furini, who won the epda JUNIOR GOLD AWARD 2022 with Moore. Students Alessandro Biglioli, Tea Bertoldi and Federico Gonzalez Galicia got the SILVER AWARD with Organic Brothers. While the BRONZE AWARD went to Giulia Menini, Nicolò Moscatelli, Christian Napolitano, Simone Pastori thanks to Ambreous. Special mentions went to Ackua by Thomas Borroni, Zoe Bortoli, Luca Gisonno and to Kleen by Denise Cattolico, Laura Sparacio and Eleonora Tucci.
  • November – Three audiovisual projects realised within fashion Design Area were selected at the 14th edition of A Shaded View On Fashion Film (ASVOFF), the festival dedicated to fashion film, taking place from 10 to 13 of November 2022 in Paris.

  • October – The students of the MA in User Experience Design Sara Buongiorno, Sara Gambino, Michele Lomonaco and Elena Migliorino received the special mention for their project Mamma Mia at Digital Innovation Days Italy 2022.
  • October - Giovanna Pia Montrone, student of the BA Graphic Design and Art Direction, won the VIAPADOVAMONDO contest, a competition born from an initiative of Tunnel Boulevard to regenerate a railway passage in Via Padova in Milan. 
  • September - Liliana Ray, Bazzurro and Eleonora Arcusio, students of the BA in Graphic Design and Art Direction, were awarded at WPP Talent Award 2022 with their project, created for Bridgestone.
  • September - Simone Bozzelli, alumnus of the BA in Media Design and Multimedia Arts, has realized the Maneskin’s video clip I Wanna Be Your Slave awarded as the Best Alternative Video at MTV Music Awards.

  • July - At the 18th edition of the Who Is On Next? 2022, the contest promoted by Altaroma and Vogue Italia three NABA alumni, Riccardo Scaburri, Alice Curti and Alberto Petillo, took the third position with their emerging brand Lessico Familiare.
  • July - The filmmaker and NABA lecturer Yuri Ancarani with Atlantide got the Special Mention for his visionary talent at the Extra Explore film festival takes place thanks to the collaboration between Fondazione Cinema per Roma, MAXXI Museo Nazionale delle Arti del XXI Secolo, NABA and the Departments of History Anthropology Religions Art History, Media and Performing Arts of Sapienza Università di Roma.
  • June - Important achievements for NABA at the XXVII ADI Compasso d'Oro. Andrea Alice Cappelli, alumna of the BA in Design with her thesis project, SEI UNO - 61 elementi per il tuo essere unico, got the Mention to the Targa Giovani. The lecturer Claudio Larcher and Massimo Martignoni curator of the Design from the Alps 1920-2020 catalog with Ursula Schnitzer received the Honourable Mention.   
  • June - NABA Communication and Graphic Design Area scoops the XXI edition of the Spot School Award, Mediterranean Creativity Festival - The Youngest Award, the international competition for students comes from the collaboration between RAI Pubblicità, Caritas Italiana, Legambiente, SIET and other partners. The Academy students won four Bronze and two Gold medals. Their success earned NABA the Golden School Trophy for the overall quality of entered campaigns.
  • May - Inchei, the short film by Federico Demattè, student of the BA in Media Design and Multimedia Arts, has been selected among the finalist at CORTI d’ARGENTO 2022.
  • April - Also for the 2022 edition and for the second year in a row, QS World University Rankings® by Subject named NABA as the best Academy of Fine Arts in Italy and among the top 100 universities in the world in Art & Design field.
  • February - NABA won the Erasmus+ KA210, one of the small-scale Partnerships in school education, launched on March 2021 by the European Commission, with the project Augmented Reality multi-user virtual spaces connected to Virtual Studio set within NABA campus in Milan and its innovative technologies. Presented together with Belgrade SAE Institute, partner institution of the initiative, the research project was curated by NABA Research Centre and Innovation Hub.
  • January - NABA Fashion Design Area students Valentina Barbaro and Lia Ngujen have been selected among the finalists of MMF Milan Music Fashion, contest promoted by Piattaforma Sistema Formativo Moda.

2021
  • December - Several prize for NABA BA in Graphic Design and Art Direction students at the epda JUNIOR AWARD 2021, the prize dedicated to sustainable packaging design. Rebecca Taveggia, Valeria Turati and Filippo Tondini with the GLOB project won the epda JUNIOR GOLD AWARD 2021. Ligui Hu, Samantha San Felice, Margherita Soresina were awarded the SILVER AWARD with their project KEIN, and Desirée Pintimalli, Noemi Pelligra, Davide Pedrazzini were awarded the BRONZE AWARD for “BIT”. Denise Cattolico, Laura Sparacio and Eleonora Tucci’s project “DELA” obtained the Special Mention.
  • December - The thesis project Circe's spell by Alessandro Montali, NABA BA in Media Design and Multimedia Arts student, has been selected at Torino Film Festival, within the section "Italiana.Corti". In the same section, Simone Bozzelli NABA Alumnus won with the short movie Giochi.
  • November – Ambra Castagnetti and Gaia De Megni, NABA Visual Arts Area students, are finalists of the first edition of the Pini Art Prize, a prize promoted by the Adolfo Pini Foundation with the patronage of the MIC - Ministry of Culture and the Municipality of Milan.
  • November - Francesco Rogante, NABA BA in Design student with the project Macchine Sonore has been selected for Targa Giovani by ADI Design Index, the yearbook published by ADI Italian Association for Industrial Design that collects the best of Italian design, selected by the ADI Permanent Design Observatory.
  • November - Ludovica Anversa, former student of the BA in Painting and Visual Arts, has won the tenth edition of the Premio Fabbri per le Arti Contemporanee in the section Arte emergente.
  • November – The NABA Design Award 2020 catalogue, edited by Claudio Larcher, NABA Design Area Leader, with the graphic design by Atto, has been selected for the Design for the communication category by ADI Design Index, the yearbook published by ADI Italian Association for Industrial Design that collects the best of Italian design, selected by the ADI Permanent Design Observatory.
  • September - The student Federico Dematté with its short film Inchei has won the Best Short Film Award and Best Director Award at Venice International Film Critic Award during the Venice International Film Festival.
  • September - Il Giornale dell’Arte had included in the Power 100, the list of the top player of the contemporary art system: Marco Scotini, Visual Arts Department Head, Ilaria Bonacossa, Course Advisor Leader of the Master in Contemporary Art Markets, Francesco Zanot, Course Advisor Leader of Master in Photography and Visual Design.
  • August - The students of the Communication and Graphic Design Area were decorated at Spot School Award, Mediterranean Creativity Festival - The Youngest Award, the international contest dedicated to communication and advertising students, curated by RAI Pubblicità, Caritas Italiana, Legambiente e Centri NeMO. Three Silver Prizes and three Bronze Prizes were awarded; moreover NABA obtained a particular recognition for the number of projects awarded.
  • August - Gabriele Sassone, writer and NABA lecturer of Critical Writing, with the novel Uccidi l’Unicorno (Il Saggiatore) is the winner of the XXVIII edition of the Literary Prize Giuseppe Berto.
  • June -  The design projects developed by the former students of the BA in Design, Borgomezzavalle: Il paese degli Specchi by Miriam Re Cecconi and Nicole Eleonora Pizzi and Sei Uno - 61 elementi per il tuo essere unico by Alice Andrea Cappelli, were selected by  ADI Design Index, the yearbook published by ADI Italian Association for Industrial Design that collects the best of Italian design, selected by the ADI Permanent Design Observatory.
  • June - NABA Master in Creative Advertising students, Mariasole Barberio, Sophie Resnik, Leticia Pereira, have been awarded with a Merit mention for the entry project Burger King - Augmented Regality presented at The Young Ones 2021 awards.
  • June - Carla Giaccio, alumna of the NABA BA in Painting and Visual Arts, has won the DucatoPrize Academy Art Award.
  • May - The former students of the BA in Set Design, Chiara Calvi, Gaia Bozzi, Martina Sala and Nicola Di Lollo, alumnus of the BA in Media Design and Multimedia Arts, have realised the video for the mezzo-soprano Andrea Nino; the video obtained the first prize in the Opera category at the SOI Fiorenza Cedolins Virtual Opera Competition.
  • May - Camilla Alberti, alumna of the BA in Painting and Visual Arts and of MA, was among the nine artists invited by Hyundai from all over Europe to create unique pieces of art inspired by the design of the new Hyundai BAYON.
  • May - Marco Antelmi and Jacopo Rinaldi, the ex-students of the MA in Visual Arts and Curatorial Studies, are among the 70 artists from 21 different countries selected for the Biennale of Young European and Mediterranean Artists titled The School of Waters! organised by BJCEM – Biennale des Jeunes Créateurs de l’Europe et de la Méditerranée hosted by the Republic of San Marino. Moreover, alumnus Nicolas Vamvouklis is a member of the international scientific committee which curated MEDITERRANEA 19.
  • May – The second volume of NABA Insights editorial series published by Quodlibet, Design a spoon to change the city, by Claudio Larcher and Valentina Dalla Costa, is the Winner in Education, Teaching Aid and Training Content Design Category at A'Design Award and Competition.
  • May – NABA BA in Painting and Visual Arts alumnus, Tomaso De Luca, is the winner of the second edition of the MAXXI BVLGARI PRIZE the important award that allows the collection of the MAXXI museum in Rome to be expanded with new acquisitions.
  • March - Named in the 2021 edition of the prestigious QS World University Rankings® by Subject as the Best Italian Academy of Fine Arts and among the only 3 Italian in the top 100 of the best universities worldwide in Art&Design field.
  • February - Emanuele Lomello, Course Leader of the BA in Creative Technologies, won the second prize with the short film Birds of a Feather at the international Virtual Production for Storytellers challenge, launched by the Unreal Engine and ArtStation; Giovanni Visai, lecturer of the same BA, was awarded with t an Honorable Mention for the project Return.
  • January - Tobia Faverio, alumnus of the Academic Master in Photography and Visual Design is among the ten finalists in Student category at Sony World Photography Awards.
2020
  • December - NABA Alumni of Design Area have won several prizes at Ro Plastic Prize 2020, the contest conceived by Rossana Orlandi within the international project RO Guiltless Plastic.

    For the Packaging Solutions category, Pietro Gaeli, Simone Caronni and Paolo Stefano Gentile have won the second prize with the Peel Saver project, ecological packaging for the street food; for the Industrial Design Category, Filippo Zonno won the third prize with the project RE-BOE born from the idea to recover e reuse the plastic from the sea.

  • December - Emanuele Cantò, NABA student of the MA in Visual Arts and Curatorial Studies, won Jury Prize of Concorso Prospettive 2020 on occasion of Filmmaker Fest with his short movie Io mi fermo qui.

  • December - The students of the BA in Graphic Design and Art Direction were the winners of the epda JUNIOR AWARD 2020 dedicated to good design and functional packaging. Winners (ex aequo): Catalin Cazac, Alessandro Fera and Camilla Fracassi with their project for a re-usable food delivery packaging; the team of  Leon Accurso, Giovanni Caglio and Panpan Wang, and the team of Valentina Aquilini, Alessandra Negri and Corinna Parravicini with a concept for a mask packaging, re-usable.

  • December - Cantica21, the public call for Italian contemporary art, launched by both MAECI e MiBACT, selected 5 NABA students and alumni to be part of the 45 artists whose works of art will be presented in its exhibition, which will be displayed through foreign countries’ Italian Cultural Institutes, Embassies and Consulates. In the under 35 section was selected: Giacomo Segantin, student of the MA in Visual Arts and Curatorial Studies; the ex-students Camilla Alberti, Irene Coppola, Giovanna Repetto and Eleonora Roaro. Into the section Cantica21 dedicated to the poet Dante Alighieri, the artist and NABA Lecturer Marinella Senatore has been selected among the 5 winners.

  • December - The students of the Communication and Graphic Design Area were decorated at Spot School Award, Mediterranean Creativity Festival - The Youngest Award, winning: Gran Prix Città di Salerno-RAI Pubblicità prize, a Golden prize, a Silver and a Bronze prize in the Press Section, as well as a Bronze prize in the TV Section. NABA also won the Golden School Trophy, awarded to the Academy for the overall quality of the submitted campaigns.

  • November - The students of the Communication and Graphic Design Area were awarded at ADCI Awards 2020, the prize promoted by Art Directors Club Italiano, with 3 Bronze prizes:
    Riccardo Rossi, student of the BA in Graphic Design and Art Direction, for the Design category; Sanjana Kadam, student of the MA in Communication Design for the Classic category; Sarah Alexander, Andrea Cornali, Deniz Eroglu, Francesco Fanizza, Lianne Van Lieropfor, students of the Academic Master in Creative Advertising for the Experience category.

  • November - NABA student Giuseppe Rocca with the project Basket Chair was awarded among the four finalist projects of the competition Una seduta per i musei promoted by MuseoCity with the patronage of ADI. The competition asked to design a mobile seat to be placed in the halls of museums to make them more welcoming for visitors.

  • September - Lucia Grande, student of the BA in Fashion Design, was awarded with the special prize for the category YKK Italia, for her outfit “Everyone sees what they know”, at the 6th edition of Milano Moda Graduate, the event organised by Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, dedicated to Italian fashion school excellence.

  • September - Matteo Brasili, NABA MA in Product Design student, with his Final Project Cloud of Sea, is the Italian Winner of Dyson Award 2020, international contest that this year have been focused on sustainability issue. Cloud of Sea is an innovative user-friendly tool, adaptable to any type of boat, which encourages and facilitates seafarers interested in the health of the marine world, to remove microplastics that contaminate the waters of our planet.

  • August - Ettore Favini, artist and lecturer of the NABA Visual Arts Department, has been awarded with Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant 2020-2021, international award titled to the American abstract Pollock and his partner Lee Krasner, the foremost abstract expressionist painters.
    The artist has been awarded for his constant research regarding political issues, such as borders, migrations and the daily micro-stories that form the basis for official history.

  • August - Isabel Mazzolini, student of the BA in Media Design and Multimedia Arts, was decorated with the Audience Award for her short movie Pillow at the 60th San Francisco State University Film Finals, during an international exchange period she spent there. 

  • July - NABA has won several prizes at D&AD New Blood Awards 2020 resulting among the most internationally awarded academies; NABA obtained:
    Yellow Pencil with the project Burger King's Burger Pooling developed by Andrea Cornali, Sarah Alexander, Francesco Fanizza, Deniz Eroglu, Lianne Van Lierop, students of the Academic Master in Creative Advertising;
    Wood Pencil with the project The water path designed by Anna Carolina Nicoletti, Alessandro Silva de Oliveira, Luca Castelli, Carlo Antonio Romano and Giulia Tofi, MA in Communication Design students;
    Wood Pencil with the project The King Chat made by Leonardo Pedergnani, Fabio Colombo, Antonio Mazzei and Rui Hu, MA in Communication Design students.

  • June - Jingyi Zhao, Li Shao, Selenay Geyik, Yuqing Li, MA in Interior Design students, have won the second prize at Accor Design Award 2020, international contest promoted by Accor Group, the world leader in the hotel. The students presented the Crossing Road project reinterpreting the orient express room in the wagon car.

  • June - Two Alumni of the BA in Painting and Visual Arts have been awarded at Ducato Prize 2020, conceived to promote a dialogue between contemporary art and the historic territory of the Duchy of Parma and Piacenza. Guendalina Cerruti is the Winner of the Contemporary Art Prize; Byron Gago is the winner of the Academy Art Prize.

  • May - Beatrice Bocconi, student of the BA in Fashion Design, has been selected as one of the finalists of Redress Design Award 2020, one of the most important sustainable fashion design competitions, for her project Felt in the streets, a capsule collection based on zero-waste and upcycling.

  • May - Margherita Palli, Course leader of the BA in Set Design, has designed the sets of the Chovanščina by Modest Musorgskij, conducted by Valery Gergiev and directed by Mario Martone which have won the Best production prize for 2019 for the 39th edition of the Franco Abbiati award.

  • March - Giacomo Manzotti, NABA lecturer and alumnus of the BA in Media Design and Multimedia Arts, with the experimental animated short film The Immortality of the Crab was selected at Ann Arbor Film Festival, the oldest and one of the most prestigious experimental film festival in the world.
