In over 40 years of history, numerous awards and accolades credited NABA as a prominent institution at an international level. NABA has been selected as the Best Italian Academy of Fine Arts in the Top 100 worldwide in Art & Design field in the QS World University Rankings® by Subject. Since 2021 it is Partner, along with the best European universities, of the interdisciplinary cultural project “New European Bauhaus”, promoted by the European Commission to build a sustainable future for the new generations. In 2024, NABA hosted the Biennial powered by ELIA, European League of Institutes of the Arts — a network for exchange and professional development in higher arts education, representing over 260 members in 48 countries. From 2023 NABA is also part of Cumulus Association, the leading global association to serve art and design education and research. This underlines the recognition of the NABA’s commitment and ability to play a pivotal role among the major cultural institutions. December - Elisa Bertagnin, Eleonora D'Agaro, Marianna Carrafa, students of the BA in Graphic Design and Art Direction were awarded the first prize at epda Junior Award Future Packaging 2024 with their project Taboo.
November - Petrolia by Giulia Mancassola has been selected in the NEW TALENT section of FIPADOC25, an international Festival dedicated to documentaries.
November - ALPHA, short film and thesis project by Anteros Marra, an alumnus of the BA in Film and Animation Anteros Marra and Salicornia, short film and thesis project by Gaia Longobardi, an alumna of the same BA.
November - Parlando a un ritratto by Noah Zoratti, student of the BA in Film and Animation was screened in the Prospettive Contest of Filmmaker Festival.
November - The twelfth edition of the Lorenzo Bonaldi Prize for Art – EnterPrize, the prestigious international award dedicated to curators under 30, established by GAMeC in 2003 with the support of the Bonaldi Group and born from the desire to honor Lorenzo Bonaldi’s passion for art and collecting, was won by Visual Arts Area student Greta Martina with the exhibition project Fossi io teco; e perderci nel verde.
November - SHIMBALAIE, a fashion film by the BA in Fashion Design alumnus Matteo Frasca, was selected as a finalist at the last edition of A Shaded View On Fashion Film (ASVOFF).
October - NABA student Beatrice Signorelli was awarded at Granny's Pet Award Design, a contest promoted by Quattrozampeinfiera and Quartieri tranquilli under the Patronage of ADI, the Association for Industrial Design.
October - CONDOMINIO N°IMX172 by Gaia Longobardi, student of Media Design and New Technologies Area was screened at the Rome Film Fest.
October - Largohen Dallëndyshet by Deni Neli was selected at TIFF - Tirana International Film Festival, an Academy Awards qualifying film festival and one of the major annual events in Tirana.
October - Global Fashion Graduate Show Mexico City 2024 featured the Chroma Femmes collection by Anastasia Aversani, a BA in Fashion Design student.
October - Petrolia by Giulia Mancassola was awarded the Canais TVCine prize, Green Years section, at Doclisboa - XXII International Film Festival.
October - The students of the MA in Visual Design and Integrated Marketing Communication in the Rome campus Giulia Cirillo and Benedetta De Rosa were awarded a Silver prize at ADCI Awards for their project Eargasm.
October - The project by the students of the BA in Film and Animation Largohen Dallëndyshet by Deni Neli, Petrolia by Giulia Mancassola and Kaliz by Irene Z'graggen have been awarded the Best Short Film ONDE CORTE – PANORAMA ITALIA at Alice nella Città, an independent and parallel section of the Rome Film Festival focused on debuts, talent, and new generations.
November – Students of the BA in Graphic Design and Art Direction won numerous awards in the 2023 edition of the epda JUNIOR AWARD. The projects, awarded during drupa in Düsseldorf, were curated by NABA lecturers Luca Giulio Ferreccio, Fabrizio Bottarelli Bernasconi, and Paolo Cazzola. Sawce, by Pietro Cosimo Cappellini, Mattia Carabella, and Rebecca Casati, won the Junior Golden Award 2023; Miagolio by Camilla Scaramuzzi, Lucia Marina Tomasi, Sofia Tumino, and Simone Zalambani, won the Silver Award; Oryzon by Simone Almasio, Jacopo Porro, Anna Puffi, and Simona Raco, won the Bronze Award.
November - The 43rd edition of Filmmaker Festival featured two short films developed by the students of the BA in Film and Animation: Lacrime di Terra by Manuele Granelli, Ettore Rinaldi, and Francesca Venzano, and Il Cortile by Riccardo Stabilini, screened at the Arcobaleno Cinema in Milan.
November - Kore, the thesis project of our student Fabiana Russo from the BA in Film and Animation, was selected at the 41st Torino Film Festival in the Spazio Italia section.
November - Maieti the thesis project by Daniele Caruso and Matteo Boscolo Gioachina, alumni of the BA in Film and Animation, has been awarded the Best Short Film ONDE CORTE – PANORAMA ITALIA at Alice nella Città, an independent and parallel section of the Rome Film Festival focused on debuts, talent, and new generations. Alumnus Anteros Marra's project Alpha was also selected in the same category.
October – Now in its third edition, the il Premio Massimiliano Galliani per il Disegno Under 35, an important initiative dedicated to drawing, was awarded to Silvia Listorti, alumna NABA.
August – NABA alumnus Federico Dematté was selected at SIC@SIC at Venice International Film Critic Award during the Venice International Film Festival with his thesis project realised within the BA in Film and Animation Pinoquo, produced by Nieminem and Premiere Film.
July - Two groups of students of the MA in Visual Design and Integrated Marketing Communication were awarded at the D&AD New Blood Awards 2023. The group composed by students Giulia Morazzo, Ilaria Rando, Valentina Rolleri, Edoardo Usai, Irene Zamboni, under the guidance of NABA Lecturers Luca Campagnoli, Giorgia Malandrino, received a Wood Pencil for the project Get Shark Confident Campaign based on the brief received by Gymshark. Michela Ciandrini, Martina Cinefra, Giulia Magnani are the students awarded with the Graphite Pencil for the project The Missing Object based on the brief received by eBay, with the same lecturers.
June - The Future scenarios course of the BA in Graphic Design and Art Direction was awarded the Menzione Comunicazione e Cultura (Communication and Culture Mention) by AIF (Associazione Italiana Formatori) Jury for the communication quality within PEF Premio Eccellenza e Formazione.
June - Design Area students were awarded two prizes at MM Award 2023 – International creative award. Sara Fesa received the Gold prize – interior design – students with her project CRESCERE INSIEME (Growing Together), Cagla Enginer the Gold prize – product design – students with the project FLUSSO and Tommaso Chiusi a special mention – “best creative is” with the project OCEAN NETS.
June - Many students and alumni of the BA in Film and Animation from both Milan and Rome campus have been selected between 13.000 filmmakers coming from 120 different countries at the prestigious Student World Impact Film Festival. The short film Miasma by alumna TianTian He has received a special mention.
November – Three audiovisual projects realised within fashion Design Area were selected at the 14th edition of A Shaded View On Fashion Film (ASVOFF), the festival dedicated to fashion film, taking place from 10 to 13 of November 2022 in Paris.
September - Simone Bozzelli, alumnus of the BA in Media Design and Multimedia Arts, has realized the Maneskin’s video clip I Wanna Be Your Slave awarded as the Best Alternative Video at MTV Music Awards.
January - NABA Fashion Design Area students Valentina Barbaro and Lia Ngujen have been selected among the finalists of MMF Milan Music Fashion, contest promoted by Piattaforma Sistema Formativo Moda.
December - NABA Alumni of Design Area have won several prizes at Ro Plastic Prize 2020, the contest conceived by Rossana Orlandi within the international project RO Guiltless Plastic.
For the Packaging Solutions category, Pietro Gaeli, Simone Caronni and Paolo Stefano Gentile have won the second prize with the Peel Saver project, ecological packaging for the street food; for the Industrial Design Category, Filippo Zonno won the third prize with the project RE-BOE born from the idea to recover e reuse the plastic from the sea.
December - Emanuele Cantò, NABA student of the MA in Visual Arts and Curatorial Studies, won Jury Prize of Concorso Prospettive 2020 on occasion of Filmmaker Fest with his short movie Io mi fermo qui.
December - The students of the BA in Graphic Design and Art Direction were the winners of the epda JUNIOR AWARD 2020 dedicated to good design and functional packaging. Winners (ex aequo): Catalin Cazac, Alessandro Fera and Camilla Fracassi with their project for a re-usable food delivery packaging; the team of Leon Accurso, Giovanni Caglio and Panpan Wang, and the team of Valentina Aquilini, Alessandra Negri and Corinna Parravicini with a concept for a mask packaging, re-usable.
December - Cantica21, the public call for Italian contemporary art, launched by both MAECI e MiBACT, selected 5 NABA students and alumni to be part of the 45 artists whose works of art will be presented in its exhibition, which will be displayed through foreign countries’ Italian Cultural Institutes, Embassies and Consulates. In the under 35 section was selected: Giacomo Segantin, student of the MA in Visual Arts and Curatorial Studies; the ex-students Camilla Alberti, Irene Coppola, Giovanna Repetto and Eleonora Roaro. Into the section Cantica21 dedicated to the poet Dante Alighieri, the artist and NABA Lecturer Marinella Senatore has been selected among the 5 winners.
December - The students of the Communication and Graphic Design Area were decorated at Spot School Award, Mediterranean Creativity Festival - The Youngest Award, winning: Gran Prix Città di Salerno-RAI Pubblicità prize, a Golden prize, a Silver and a Bronze prize in the Press Section, as well as a Bronze prize in the TV Section. NABA also won the Golden School Trophy, awarded to the Academy for the overall quality of the submitted campaigns.
November - The students of the Communication and Graphic Design Area were awarded at ADCI Awards 2020, the prize promoted by Art Directors Club Italiano, with 3 Bronze prizes:
Riccardo Rossi, student of the BA in Graphic Design and Art Direction, for the Design category; Sanjana Kadam, student of the MA in Communication Design for the Classic category; Sarah Alexander, Andrea Cornali, Deniz Eroglu, Francesco Fanizza, Lianne Van Lieropfor, students of the Academic Master in Creative Advertising for the Experience category.
November - NABA student Giuseppe Rocca with the project Basket Chair was awarded among the four finalist projects of the competition Una seduta per i musei promoted by MuseoCity with the patronage of ADI. The competition asked to design a mobile seat to be placed in the halls of museums to make them more welcoming for visitors.
September - Lucia Grande, student of the BA in Fashion Design, was awarded with the special prize for the category YKK Italia, for her outfit “Everyone sees what they know”, at the 6th edition of Milano Moda Graduate, the event organised by Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, dedicated to Italian fashion school excellence.
