This is a significant accolade, adding to the achievements of other NABA students in Cinema, who have been featured this year at various film festivals including the Settimana Internazionale della Critica at Venice Film Festival, Rome Film Fest - in the Alice nella Città segment, awarding a prize for the best short film, Milan’s Filmmaker Festival within the Prospettive section and Turin Film Festival. “Kore” will debut publicly on November 29 at 5 PM at the Cinema Romano, located in Galleria Subalpina, P.za Castello 9, Turin. Additional screenings are scheduled for November 30 and December 1.
“Kore”, the Directorial Debut of Fabiana Russo
“Kore” narrates the story of Tommy, returning home after a long absence. He perceives it as a war-torn place, haunted by ghosts, and notably by the presence of a child he has always fled from - his daughter. Reluctant to return, but compelled by his mother's recent passing and his daughter Lea's dependence on him, Tommy faces a poignant reunion. At the funeral wake, a first exchange of glances between father and daughter occurs: for her, it is hope; for him, sheer terror. From this moment, they stand together against the world. They experience intimate situations, from Tommy's failed attempt at braiding his daughter's hair to a game that forces them to look into each other's eyes, learning that coming home is just the first of many steps towards a true return. Produced by Cattive Produzioni, this short film aims to convey the alienating and overwhelming sensation of feeling like strangers – yet intrinsically connected.
