The Project
NABA and Fondazione Cinema per Roma present the first edition of Z-PITCH Contest, a competition for students and recent graduates of Schools of Cinema and Media Design in Italy. This contest, developed within the acitvities of Rome City of Film UNESCO, was created in order to introduce major film and seriality professionals to the ideas of young authors and filmmakers who show talent and ability to identify the relevant themes of today, alongside their take on original storytelling through audiovisual media. Z-PITCH Contest is open to audiovisual storytelling projects (such as a feature film or a serial project), original and non-produced, proposed by Generation Z’s authors and filmmakers.
Interested parties will be able to present their proposals starting December 1st, 2021, until February 28th, 2022.
The best six projects will then be pre-selected by a commission of professors and industry professionals, chosen by NABA alongside the Fondazione Cinema per Roma, such as Alessandro Bertante, writer and Course Leader of the BA in Filmmaking and Animation (evolution of the current BA in Media Design and Multimedia Arts, subject to authorisation by MUR for A.Y. 2022/23), Beatrice Baldacci, Media Lab NABA and the only Italian director to win Biennale College Cinema, receiving its financing for her film “La Tana” previewed at 78th Venice International Film Festival and selected at Alice nella Città, parallel section of Rome Film Fest, Alessandra Fontemaggi, Cinema Office of Fondazione Cinema per Roma and Alexia De Vito, Special Projects of Fondazione Cinema per Roma
The six finalists will receive the opportunity to attend a masterclass for the preparation of the Z-PITCH, a pitching session at the end of which the winner of the competition will be named.
The winner of Z-PITCH Contest’s first edition will have the chance to present their project at Rome Film Fest 2022, for a possible production development.
