The Project

The students of NABA’s BA in Media Design and Multimedia Arts, under the supervision of Amos BianchiMedia Design and New Technologies Area LeaderDavide Gatti, NABA lecturer and Stefania Carbonara, NABA Media Design Academic Assistant, realised CAMINANTES 2020, the documentary created for 29th Milano Musica Festival’s opening event, that took place in Pirelli HangarBicocca, on 17th October 2020.

The documentary is the result of the collaboration with Milano Musica – Associazione per la Musica Contemporanea that presented in 2020 the 29th edition of the namesake festival, dedicated to the new paths in music.
“CAMINANTES 2020” is a storytelling of all the creative and productive phases of the opening event that took place in Pirelli HangarBicocca in the evening of 17th October 2020.
The students had the opportunity of also taking part to the show’s preparation and rehearsals on 15th and 16th of October, and the documentary’s postproduction went on during November and the first half of December 2020.

The documentary represented an authorial, directorial, productive and postproductive challenge for NABA students, in many different ways: the contemporaneity and radicality of the musical language in dialogue with Anselm Kiefer's work of art “The Seven Heavenly Palaces”; the complex dramaturgy of the event; the references to an author full of meaning such as Luigi Nono; the analogic and electronic instruments with which the concert was performed with, the difficulty of producing contemporary music: these are some of the storylines of “CAMINANTES 2020”.

Combining the world premiere of Claudio Ambrosini's De Rerum Natura for three percussionists and "electronically revealed" environment, and of Vuoi che nel fuori for trio of percussion and electronics by Marco Momi with two works for three pianos by Adriano Guarnieri and Ambrosini himself, the opening concert made it possible to experiment with the sound possibilities of these very special ensembles in the spaces of HangarBicocca.

Virtual Production

Virtual Production is the innovative technology that creates digital visual effects on set, using software born for videogames development. The Virtual Set -made in NABA Milan Campus from May 3rd to 7th 2021 - was the scenario for the filming of two short movies, result of the collaboration between students, lecturers, and technical partners. The initiative is part of a path that begins from the fields of expertise that characterise the BA’s specialisations (VFX, 3D Design, and Game Development), revolving around contemporary multimedia and digital production with great attention to experiments in the VR, MX, and Virtual Production fields.
