NABA, in partnership with the University of the Arts London (UAL), presents the Joint Summer School NABA – UAL: Fashion Design: course structure
The Joint Summer School NABA – UAL: Fashion Design course offers an immersive experience across two internationally renowned academic institutions and is structured into two parts. The first one, lasting three weeks from June 30 June to July 17, 2025, will take place at the London campus of Central Saint Martins, a renowned art and design school and an innovation hub integral to the University of the Arts London (UAL) and ranked 2nd globally in the field of Art & Design (QS World University Rankings). During these three weeks, participants will focus on research and the development of a fashion project using mixed media techniques, drawing, and 2D design.
The second part of the course will last two weeks, from July 21 to August 1, and will take place on NABA’s Milan campus. During this stage, students will build on the research conducted in London and design a capsule collection, selecting materials and experimenting with fabric manipulation in the Academy’s specialised laboratories. These two weeks will culminate in creating prototypes for the selected garments. Guiding the students through this phase of the project will be NABA lecturer Lorenzo Seghezzi.

Students participating in the course will have the opportunity to experience the methodologies adopted by two prestigious academic institutions, NABA and Central Saint Martins, while immersing themselves in the unique atmosphere of both campuses and their respective cities. They will also gain a comprehensive understanding of the creative process, from research and idea generation to the development of a fashion project, and enhance their practical skills by exploring fashion illustration, transitioning from 2D to 3D.
From the words of Guido Tattoni (NABA Dean) and Simone Domenico Liscio (Short Programs Course Leader):
«The connection and relationship established for the Joint Summer between NABA, Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti, and UAL – University of the Arts London, is first and foremost a human bond, built on shared ideas, values, and collective perspectives. In a time when barriers are increasingly emerging and the speed of communication allows little room for collective reflection and understanding of where to go, NABA and UAL have taken the time and space through their summer short courses to foster dialogue and pool their strengths. The aim is to support students in their personal and professional growth, enabling them to become increasingly aware of the multifaceted dimensions that define our shared humanity».
