Luce dietro tracce incompiute: the exhibition

Starting from the analysis of various textile fragments in the Museo delle Culture's collections, but also from the study of the textile heritage of the Fondazione Ratti in Como, the artist, who already exhibited at the Venice Biennale in 2022 and at dOCUMENTA (13) in Kassel in 2012, has created assemblages of large dimensions. The students of NABA Fashion Design Area have been involved by MUDEC – Museo delle Culture in the study of the museum archives, aimed at contributing to the design and realisation of the work of art.

Students and lecturers from NABA Milan campus supported the project with their skills and knowledge. Particularly involved were Colomba Leddi, Fashion Design Area Leader, Luca Belotti, Course Leader of the MAs and Academic Masters of the Fashion Design Area, and Salvatore Averzano, Textile Laboratory Supervisor, who coordinated the work of students Anna Rosa Confuorti, Noemi Gennarino, Kübra Golak, Edanur Polat, Ren Yingjun, Shen Yuchu, with the support of Intissar Bouhi, NABA Fashion Design Academic Assistant.

During this workshop and under the guidance of the artist, NABA students used their skills and expertise to complete Mariana Castillo Deball's work, enriching it with workmanship, embroidery and details, helping to shape the sculptures and giving them the flavour of an almost archaeological time, reinterpreted in a key of contemporary textile aesthetic research.

The Academy will also be present at Fashion Graduate Italia 2023, the event promoted by Piattaforma Sistema Formativo Moda ETS, which will be held from October 24 to October 26 at BASE Milano, via Tortona 56 - Gate L. On this occasion, the Academy will present “MAKERS, FASHION and TEXTILE”, which will see the participation of the students of the Fashion Design Area (link) in Milan campus who will present themselves in the NABA Fashion Showcase, which can be visited every day during the event hours, and in the NABA Graduates Fashion Show, scheduled for October 24 at 2:30 PM.
