Educational institutions in the arts from around the world will gather at NABA’s Milan Campus (via C. Darwin 20): from November 20 to 23, 2024, the Academy will host Arts Plural, the Biennial Conference organised by ELIA (European League of Institutes of the Arts)—a network for professional exchange and development in higher arts education, with over 260 members, including NABA, across 48 countries. Added to this news is the appointment of Guido Tattoni (NABA Dean) as ELIA Representative Board Member.

NABA hosts “Arts Plural”, the ELIA 2024 Biennial Conference: the European network for professional exchange and development in higher arts education

ELIA is a European network that operates globally as a hub for professional exchange and development in higher arts education. Its interdisciplinary approach offers new opportunities and fosters interaction among its member institutions. The Biennial Conference serves as an exploratory space open to all these entities, where the challenges facing higher arts education are closely examined from multiple perspectives.

On November 25, 2022, NABA took over from the University of the Arts Helsinki. The ELIA Executive Group recognised our ability to respond to change, flexibility, and commitment to achieving goals. This announcement highlights NABA’s responsibility in playing a central role among Italy's major cultural institutions and being the country's most prominent Academy of Fine Arts. Elected as ELIA Representative Board Member, Guido Tattoni emphasises NABA's commitment to leave its mark on the artistic community and reiterates the values shared with the community of educational realities that ELIA represents.

NABA hosts “Arts Plural”, the ELIA 2024 Biennial Conference: scheduled events

The first day of the Biennial Conference, held at NABA’s campus from 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM, will focus on ELIA, its ongoing projects, and the working groups involved. A discussion session will cover various topics such as Arts in Education, Intercultural Pluralism, Artistic Research, Careers in the Arts, Equity, Diversity & Inclusivity (EDI), Advocacy and Funding, Generationality, and more. NABA will also offer an authentic NABA Experience by organising workshops for students led by international experts.

On 21 November, from 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM, first at Teatro Manzoni (Via Alessandro Manzoni 40, Milan) and later at NABA’s Milan campus, a series of presentations, workshops, and discussions will explore the potential and applications of artistic intelligence, and how arts education institutions, academics, and students can lead social change in today’s world. New ways in which art and design can influence change in the political, ecological, ethical, technological and sustainability spheres will be discussed.

On 22 November, starting at 8:00 AM, participants will depart from NABA’s Milan campus to tour Milan’s artistic and cultural treasures. In the afternoon, they will return to Teatro Manzoni (Via Alessandro Manzoni 40, Milan) for a collaborative journey through transdisciplinary storytelling to challenge dystopian narratives.
