Fragments/Frames from a Quarantine
NABA is proud to present the experimental animated short film "Fragments/Frames from a Quarantine” curated by the BA in Media Design and Multimedia Arts and conceived from an idea of NABA lecturer Giacomo Manzotti, in collaboration with lecturers Jacopo Martinoni and Fabio Sirna, involving the students of the 2nd and 3rd year of the specialisation in Animation.
In this project the workflow and poetics of collaborative work are mixed with the feelings and experiences that the students lived during the quarantine. Each student was asked to create a drawing that represented the quarantine in a personal way: these drawings then became the key frames of the animation. The collective animation session on a shared server lasted 3 hours, during which 28 students worked simultaneously on the same project, first on their own sequence of frames, then on the sequences of others, intervening freely on each frame.
The minimalist animation software Lines has been used to make this short film, it most unique feature is to allow the collaborative creation of animation sequences in real time.

Music and sound design constitute the original soundtrack created by lecturer Fabio Sirna: a slightly melancholic and dreamlike mood, where the sounds and the mix are used in order to recall the different perception of time spent in quarantine.
