NABA is pleased to announce two projects completed this year at Teatro alla Scala in Milan by professionals associated with the Academy's Set Design Area. The most recent involves Alumnus Riccardo Sgaramella, who was responsible for the sets of the opera "Il cappello di paglia di Firenze," at Teatro alla Scala from September 4 to 18. His design featured a fixed structure on an 18-meter diameter revolving platform, creating the illusion of a continuous tracking shot animated by camera movement, gradually revealing the interior settings in a full 360-degree turn.

For the 2023/24 season, lecturer and Alumna of the Bachelor of Arts in Set Design, Eleonora Peronetti, co-designed, alongside Davide Livermore (one of the world’s leading opera directors) the sets for the opera "Turandot" at Teatro alla Scala from 25 June to 15 July 2024. Their design includes moving bridges, massive motorized carts, 24-meter catwalks descending from the fly system, and architectural formations alongside state-of-the-art LED walls, all conceived to maximise the technical capabilities of Teatro alla Scala’s stage.
