Fostering gender balance, resilience and leadership in videogame design careers, co-funded by the Erasmus+ Program of the European Commission, the FairGame project seeks to promote interest in the opportunities in the videogame industry and the cross-sectoral perspectives that videogame design tools can offer, train participants with the most advanced digital tools and contribute to create inclusive technological spaces and ecosystems.
The project, coordinated by the Zaragoza-based Centro Superior de Diseño Hacer Creativo, involves three other leading European universities specialized in art and design: NABA, Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti (Italy), Royal Danish Academy (Denmark), as well as two other Spanish institutions: UTHub training center also located in Zaragoza, which will provide official training on Epic Games' Unreal Engine, and the non-profit association FemDevs, which seeks to promote the interest, participation and presence of women in video game culture. MOME, Mohloy-Nagy Univeristy of Art and Design Budapest is associate partner of the project.
Fair Game will produce several activities and outputs. Firstly, a documentary with stories of real women developers and designers in the sector through which they will be able to discover experiences and inspiration for younger generations of women, and which will highlight the need for a more inclusive sector. On the other hand, meetings, workshops and a best practices guide to promote collaborative design and leadership, women's empowerment and diversity in the technology industry. Finally, a dual cities summer course (between Milan and Zaragoza) that involves students selected by open call and seeks to respond to the demands of a highly digital, multidisciplinary and inter-sectorial world.
