The new NABA Department is a co-creation space and an idea hub, founded as a "Research Centre" in 2021. It collaborates with national and international academic and institutional partners to design and develop strategic projects in the fields of artistic research and education. DRAFT supports, organizes, and implements research within the academic context. Its goal is to bring together the potential, projects, and synergies of NABA’s faculty, offering a space for convergence, incubation, and development within the institution. DRAFT promotes a culture of exchange and best practices in various areas of design and artistic research.
Research and Innovation
This area of the department was created to identify, select, analyze, support, strengthen, and enhance the most significant, original, and innovative research themes at NABA. Practice-based working groups, composed of tenured faculty and young researchers, have been formed with the aim of gathering and promoting nationally and internationally relevant projects, conferences, symposia, and publications.
Doctoral School
This department area was established in 2023 with the launch of the PhD in Artistic Practice in collaboration with HDK-Valand and the accreditation of the doctoral program in artistic practices and design culture. The school is dedicated to identifying a framework of advanced specialization in the arts and design, with a practical orientation that aims to develop critical models and epistemologies for artistic research and production.
Faculty Training
The faculty training area is part of DRAFT, where a series of initiatives organized by NABA aims to support teachers in their daily teaching activities with students, as well as to enhance their teaching experience by fostering lifelong learning processes or introducing innovative educational tools (Blackboard LMS, courses on special educational needs, etc.).
