An initiative to approach the practice of international artists in Rome, an experience to learn how to share their knowledge. Rome campus students of the MA in Visual Arts and Curatorial Studies play as cultural mediators on the occasion of "Una linea storta tesa" ("A straight taut line"): the final exhibition by scholarship holders of the Academy of France in Rome - Villa Medici. Starting on June 17, during a series of special sessions that can be booked on the Villa Medici website, visitors will be guided along the exhibition tour. Below is information on the workshop and exhibition at Villa Medici.
The exhibition and workshop with the Academy of France in Rome - Villa Medici
"Una linea storta tesa" ("A straight taut line") takes place at the venue in Viale della Trinità dei Monti 1, Rome, from June 10. Here, art installations, performances, literature, historical research, video, photography and music evoke the path of the residency: a trajectory that includes fixed points and rethinks, a thread that is constantly alive, tense, agitated. The mediation programme supports an active dialogue with the audience: a process of reading and interpreting the works of art. It is the latest piece of a workshop curated by Giulia Floris (NABA lecturer) in collaboration with the Academy of France in Rome - Villa Medici.
Starting in May, the didactic experience included six educational experiences held both at the Rome campus and the scholarship holders' studios. After a series of meetings, students of the Visual Arts Department had the opportunity to visit the exhibition with the curator Saverio Verini on June 8. The didactic tour was essential for their role as mediators in the coming weeks.
The students who attended the workshop are Maria Elena Capitanio, Chaitanya Chavan, Valentina D'Aprile, Teresa Lafuente Lumbreras, Yifan Liu, Clotilde Martinez, Caterina Miari Fulcis, Shiyuan Sun, Oranee Thawatpongsri. The workshop and the mediation activity are part of a cooperation project between NABA and the Academy of France in Rome - Villa Medici.
