NABA is a partner of the UnArchive Found Footage Fest, the international festival conceived and produced by the Fondazione Archivio Audiovisivo del Movimento Operaio e Democratico (AAMOD), in collaboration with Archivio Luce, with the support of the MiC – Direzione Generale Cinema e Audiovisivo and directed by Alina Marazzi (NABA lecturer) and Marco Bertozzi. The festival will be held in Rome from May 28 to June 2 and, now in its second edition, is dedicated to the creative reuse of archival material, stemming from a deep reflection on the role of audiovisual and cinematic archives in the contemporary world, in the development of art, culture, and, more broadly, civil society.
This year, NABA will again participate through the presence of students from the Rome Campus on the competition jury, the organisation in collaboration with AAMOD of a masterclass by director Eyal Sivan on May 30 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Cinema Intrastevere (Vicolo Moroni 3, Rome), and the screening of five short films made by NABA students from the Milan and Rome Campuses on June 2 at 11:00 AM at Cinema Intrastevere.
NABA at UnArchive Found Footage Fest: the jury composed of NABA students
The NABA students on the jury for the event, alongside students from other universities and led by Fabio Capalbo (Bachelor of Arts in Film and Animation Course Leader), will contribute to the awarding of three prizes:
- UnArchive Prize for the best creative reuse;
- Best Feature Film Prize for the best film over 60 minutes;
- Best Short Film Prize for the best film under 60 minutes.
NABA at UnArchive Found Footage Fest: Eyal Sivan masterclass
The Masterclass by director Eyal Sivan, to be held on May 30 in Cinema Intrastevere, Hall 1, is dedicated to NABA students but also open to external attendees. It will consist of an analysis in English with an Italian translation of Sivan's works, which are highly regarded in the international moving image context, through a conversation with Marco Bertozzi, the Festival's artistic director. This session will be preceded and followed by screenings of Sivan's titles: “Uno specialista. Ritratto di un criminale moderno” on Wednesday, May 29 at 7:30 PM in Hall 2, and “Pour l'amour du peuple” on May 31 at 9:30 PM in Hall X, where the artist will be present.
