An opportunity to think about the plants' and humans' mutual dependence; an interdisciplinary initiative in which technology, art and science converge: NABA participates in "Our Bio-Tech Planet: Future of Plants and Humans". The event organised by Art&Science Node (ASN) will include the talk "Hybridizations between nature and culture: Dialogues on the future in philosophy, art and design", featuring some lecturers of the Academy. It will take place at the Aranciera of Orto Botanico di Roma Polo Museale Sapienza on October 29 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The event is free, subject to the Orto Botanico di Roma Polo Museale Sapienza entrance.
Hybridizations between nature and culture
"Our Bio-Tech Planet" is an intercultural and interdisciplinary event investigating the future of plants and human beings. From October 24 to 30, EU research centres' scientists and international professionals will face that topic during panel discussions, workshops, live performances and art exhibitions. The Academy talk aims to highlight the link between nature and culture at present times. NABA lecturer and philosopher Leonardo Caffo, NABA lecturer, art curator and writer Gabriela Galati and curator, researcher and designer Angela Rui will take the floor. Silvia Simoncelli (NABA Head of Education - Rome) will moderate the talk.
Artistic, curatorial and design experiences will complete philosophical arguments during the event. The focus will be on the Anthropocene - the current geological era characterised by a planetary crisis at different levels and scales. The discussion aims to offer an overview of the deconstruction of common ideas about plants; it looks at the plant world as a possible model of coexistence and social organisation.
