The film review "NABA - Percorsi d’Autore" returns for its second edition, now in collaboration with Anteo Palazzo del Cinema, where the scheduled events will take place. Initiated as part of the BA in Film and Animation at the Milan Campus, from an idea by Alessandro Bertante (NABA BA in Film and Animation Course Leader), the series was designed to offer an innovative perspective on the world of cinema, exploring a variety of artistic expressions and directorial sensitivities.
Four public events will be held from October 2024 to March 2025, featuring film screenings followed by a dedicated talk. These will showcase some of the leading directors in contemporary Italian cinema, moderated by Dario Zonta (artistic director of the series and NABA lecturer).
"NABA – Percorsi d’Autore": the screening of "I dannati" by Roberto Minervini and related talk
The first scheduled event took place on Monday, October 28 at 7:20 PM at the Sala President of Anteo Palazzo del Cinema (P.za XXV Aprile 8, Milan) with the screening of “I dannati” by director Roberto Minervini, who won the award for Best Director in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival. A live radio broadcast also accompanied this event as part of an episode of “Hollywood Party Factory”, a programme broadcast on Rai Radio 3 at 7 PM, during which Dario Zonta, together with some Academy students, interviewed the guest director.

“NABA - Percorsi d’Autore”: the screening of “Il tempo che ci vuole” by Francesca Comencini and related talk
After the first event featuring “I dannati” by director Roberto Minervini, the series returned on Monday, December 2, at the Sala President of Anteo Palazzo del Cinema, with the screening of “Il tempo che ci vuole” by Francesca Comencini. This film tells the story of a father and daughter, cinema and life, a seemingly perfect childhood, and the inevitable mistakes of growing up.
Following the screening, attendees had the opportunity to participate in a discussion with the director, moderated by Dario Zonta. This event was also accompanied by a live radio broadcast from the Parla con Anteo recording studio inside Anteo Palazzo del Cinema.
As part of “Hollywood Party Factory” aired on Rai Radio 3, the media partner of the “NABA – Percorsi d’Autore” initiative, the NABA lecturer and artistic director of the initiative engaged in an insightful dialogue with the programme’s host, Steve Della Casa. Joining the conversation were Francesca Comencini and a group of NABA students.

“NABA - Percorsi d’Autore”: the screening of “REAL” by Adele Tulli and related talk
The series “NABA - Percorsi d’Autore” continued with “REAL” by Adele Tulli, a social film that premiered at the latest Locarno Festival. The screening took place on Monday, February 3, 2025, at 7:20 PM at the Sala President of Anteo Palazzo del Cinema. As with previous events, the evening began with a live radio broadcast within “Hollywood Party Factory”, airing from 7:00 PM on Rai Radio 3 – the media partner of the “NABA - Percorsi d’Autore” initiative. During the broadcast, Dario Zonta engaged in conversation with the programme’s host, Steve Della Casa, joined by Adele Tulli and a group of NABA students. Following the screening, attendees had the opportunity to participate in a discussion with the director, also moderated by Dario Zonta.
“REAL” is a documentary that explores the concept of virtual reality and what is now defined and perceived as real. It delves into how computers and smartphones have created a non-physical, intangible space where our thoughts develop, and emotions emerge. To illustrate this evolution, “REAL” transitions from interactions experienced through physical contact, tangible objects, and measurable spaces to relationships carried out at a distance and experiences shared via a screen.

"NABA - Percorsi d’Autore": the screening of Nonostante by Valerio Mastandrea and subsequent talk
The fourth event in the series, accompanied by a live radio broadcast as part of the “Hollywood Party Factory” programme on Radio Rai 3, will take place on Monday, March 17, 2025, at 7:20 PM at Anteo Palazzo del Cinema, Sala Excelsior. The evening will feature the preview screening of “Nonostante”, directed by and starring Valerio Mastandrea. The film, which premiered in the Orizzonti section of the 81st Venice International Film Festival, will be released in Italian cinemas from 27 March. Following the screening, attendees will have the opportunity to join a talk—an open discussion with director and actor Valerio Mastandrea, moderated by Dario Zonta.
“Nonostante” tells the story of a man who spends his days peacefully in a hospital, turning his health condition into a safe haven where he can live undisturbed, sheltered from the outside world. His carefully maintained routine flows undisturbed until a new patient is admitted to his ward—an unsettled, angry woman who refuses to accept her condition or the unspoken rules that govern the space. She is determined to leave, whether by getting better or, perhaps, by getting worse. The man is shaken by her fierce energy, at first resisting, then slowly embracing something he cannot fully understand. In the end, their encounter teaches him that, when we truly listen to our hearts and emotions, there is no real refuge.
