The NABA talk at VIEW Conference 2022

VIEW Conference is an annual event focusing on Computer Graphics, Interactive Techniques, Digital Cinema, 2D/3D Animation, VR and AR, Gaming and VFX. It consists of workshops, lectures, classes and showings. This year's programme includes the talk "Virtual Production and the future of learning" by Emanuele Lomello, who will present two short films and a behind-the-scenes documentary. These videos will illustrate how Virtual Production is an effective training tool. The event will be held in the Sala Duomo at the OGR in Turin, and it will be live online.

Short film and documentary focus on a NABA project carried out during the A.Y. 2020/21. Their showing is an opportunity to welcome some insights emphasised by the global events of the last two years. These phenomena have highlighted the need to develop new and effective remote collaboration methods, both in the professional and educational spheres. NABA has explored Virtual Production techniques to design and develop new didactic practices for some time. Suppose technology is an extension of the human body. In that case, the questions addressed in the talk are: what technology enables the extension of physicality in digital classrooms, laboratories, and film sets? Paraphrasing Neil Gershenfeld, how is it possible to bring together the atoms of the human body with the bits of digital systems? Remote pre-production practices and the technologies used on the sets for in-camera VFX are fascinating tools for exploring these new boundaries.
