A contest dedicated to the social impact of packaging design: BA in Graphic Design and Art Direction students participated and won three prizes in the 2022 edition of the epda JUNIOR AWARD. The competition stems from the will to improve sustainability and consumer experience through packaging solutions.

NABA projects at the epda JUNIOR AWARD

The 2022 epda brief asked students to work with innovative materials. The aim was to create primary and secondary packaging for the retail sector. After a three-round evaluation process, the epda jury - made up of design, innovation and sustainability professionals - awarded the best projects.

Congrats to students Sara Bellesini, Serge Forgione and Riccardo Furini, who won the epda JUNIOR GOLD AWARD 2022 with "MOORE". Their proposal is an avant-garde packaging solution based on a high-impact visual idea. Thanks to bright-eyed and playful tones, the project well-focuses on branding and differentiation of the sliced bread product line.

Students Alessandro Biglioli, Tea Bertoldi and Federico Gonzalez Galicia got the SILVER AWARD with "Organic Brothers". While the BRONZE AWARD went to Giulia Menini, Nicolò Moscatelli, Christian Napolitano, Simone Pastori thanks to "Ambreous". Special mentions went to "Ackua" by Thomas Borroni, Zoe Bortoli, Luca Gisonno and to "Kleen" by Denise Cattolico, Laura Sparacio and Eleonora Tucci.

The prize ceremony took place in Room G 0.4, NABA campus Milan. Past editions winners attended the event too. Here, they presented their project concepts to students, lecturers, designers and professionals from the creative sector.

To conclude, a series of speeches faced the future of the creative professions. Speakers were: Sylvia Vitale Rotta (President - EPDA Association), Paul Maas (Lecturer in Visual Communication - ZUYD University of Applied Sciences), Mikko Coria (Professor and Director of the Institute for Design Innovation - Loughborough University London) and NABA lecturers Luca Ferreccio and Luca Pianigiani. They provided young designers with some insights into best practices for efficient design, the job market, the search for talent and the impact of new technologies in future of the creative industry.
