NABA is pleased to announce its participation in the 43rd Filmmaker Festival with "Here and there: minutes on the new Iranian revolution", a lecture performance by Bani Khoshnoudi. This event will be hosted at the NABA Campus in Milan, on November 20 at 11 AM, in Classroom T 0.0. The festival will also feature two short films, one of which competes, developed by the students of the BA in Film and Animation: "Lacrime di Terra" by Manuele Granelli, Ettore Rinaldi, and Francesca Venzano, scheduled for November 22 at 7:30 PM at the Arcobaleno Cinema in Milan, and "Il Cortile" by Riccardo Stabilini, screening on November 23 at 7:30 PM, in the same cinema. NABA lecturer Marianna Schivardi who supervised both projects will also be involved in the jury of the Concorso Lungometraggi Internazionali. Three Visual Arts area students will also be part of the event's jury.
"Here and there: minutes on the new Iranian revolution": A Lecture Performance by Bani Khoshnoudi
In collaboration with Filmmaker Festival, the NABA Campus in Milan will host "Here and there: minutes on the new Iranian revolution", a lecture performance by Bani Khoshnoudi. The Iranian artist and filmmaker from the diaspora will delve into themes of exile, modernity, and its effects on places and their inhabitants, memory, and the invisible. Using both archival and current images, she will daringly establish connections and narrate erased histories, seeking to create a new possible archive in the margins between violence, racism, and revolution. From "The Silent Majority Speaks" to "El Chinero", her aesthetic establishes a political form in dialogue with the contemporary. The workshop is introduced by Marco Scotini (NABA Visual Arts Department Head) and Cristina Piccino (journalist and film critic).
"Lacrime di Terra"
"Lacrime di Terra", realised within the Documentary course of the second year of the BA in Film and Animation, is competing in the Prospettive section of the Filmmaker Festival. It is directed by Manuele Granelli, Ettore Rinaldi, and Francesca Venzano, with sound by Roberto Pugliese. The short film traces the remnants of past glories found in the cracks of dilapidated buildings and walls: a violent landslide in the 1960s forced the inhabitants to leave the town of Craco, transforming it into an invisible yet vivid "ghost", surrounded by desolate lands.
"Il Cortile"
"Il Cortile", another BA in Film and Animation project, realised within the Documentary course of its second year, has been selected as a non-competitive short film in the Prospettive section of the Filmmaker Festival. Previously awarded Best Short Film at the NABA Cinema Awards 2023, it is a creation by Riccardo Stabilini. Set in Crema, Northern Italy, it authentically depicts adolescence in the province. In the stillness of the countryside, under the summer sun, a swarm of young boys and girls is portrayed in their everyday life. Dalin is one of them; her days reflect a lifestyle as common as it is precious.
