From April 12th to 18th, NABA will take part to the initiatives of Milano Design City 2021 with the exhibition “design off-line - projects in a pandemic year”, featuring a selection of projects created during the last pandemic year by the students of the Academy’s Design Area, under the guidance of Claudio Larcher, NABA Design Area Leader, in Scalo Lambrate.
For the whole week of the Milano Design City, between 12 am and 6 pm, with mandatory reservation writing at events@naba.it, it will be possible to book a guided tour to the exhibition, within the venue of Scalo Lambrate, a disused early 20th Century railway depot that was recently renovated into a public space for the City of Milan.
“design off-line”, with the patronage of the Municipality of Milan, represent unique moment for the students to share with the public the projects on exhibition that were developed during their final academic year, to reflect on the value of design and planning during the current COVID-19 global pandemic, which has intensified the need to use digital technologies and, in academic contexts, has resulted in having to resort to distance learning.
The exhibition aims at displaying the varied insights provided by the students - our future designers - on the issues emerging from the diverse facets and complexities of present day life, often exacerbated by lockdown: from the interaction in the urban public space to the overpopulation themes, to experiments in the use of iconic materials of Italian design tradition like Milan’s underground BS Classic, to explore new ways of expression. The students present the proposals and visions of a young generation that over recent months has rethought forms of living and urban contexts while confined to their own homes.
Lines in addition to temporal and spatial references guide visitors through the exhibition, retracing the past year and the design times of the work presented.
Area Design students Martino Bizzanelli, Giulia Braglia, Aldo Mucciarone, Umberto Passerini, Alice Platania, Giacomo Quinland, Alessio Ramundo, Francesco Rogante, Laura Sirbu, Chiara Torterolo, Giovanni Tortora, Luca Vernieri realised the exhibited projects.
The project will be presented within the Fuorisalone Design Guide, since NABA is a cultural partner of Fuorisalone.it
