From 17th to 27th September Festival della Biodiversità, now in its 14th edition, hosts “From discipline to holobiont” the project conceived by Dong Yixuan, Xiong Xiu and Ko Yuhsin, students of the MA in Visual Arts and Curatorial Studies, wich also includes the Performance by Davide Dicorato, NABA alumnus.

The open air installation, hosted by Parco Nord Milano, explores the theme “The health of plants”, and revolves on the horse chestnut and its leaves’ parasite, the Cameraria ohridella caterpillar, that was brought to Italy and Europe by men in early ‘90s, being native from Macedonia.

During the exhibition, under the sick trees, the visitors learn something more about vegetation deseases and about the precarious balance between life and death of every living being, understanding the concept of holobiont, the ensamble created by an host and the many species living inside or around it, that become an ecological unit.

At the end of the visit everyone has the opportunity to take part to the defence of the health of plants by picking up the infected leaves to prevent the desease from spread during the following springtime.

The exhibition can be visited freely until the end of the Festival.

The event will be held in english language only.
