The Programme: overview

The Master of Arts is a highly specialised interdisciplinary course focusing on different areas, including contemporary dramaturgy, body and movement, new technologies, interaction and sound design. The two-year MA is unique in Italy and aims to establish a set of methods to research innovative languages, ideate and design multidisciplinary artistic performances, training professionals able to dialogue and interact with international productions.

Learning Objectives

Over the MA, students will have the opportunity to:

  • consolidate the creative and authorial identity of students by supporting research, design and production of performing arts in the contemporary scene
  • create innovative projects and encourage the development of productions and talents that can establish themselves in the national and international artistic and creative production circuits
  • promote the consolidation of a cultural and artistic ecosystem that integrates research, production, supply and distribution

STUDY PLAN

During the two-year MA, students will explore distinct artistic practices aimed at approaching productions in the field of performing arts in connection with new technologies, an approach that is increasingly present in contemporary artistic productions. The various educational activities are geared towards developing individual or group projects that complete students' expressive aesthetic research. This is achieved through training with performative dance, meditation and yoga, in dedicated spaces, in addition to workshop lessons on the use of digital multimedia production software and systems, as well as face-to-face theoretical lectures (visiting professors and conferences). Graduates of the two-year MA acquire the theoretical, technical and design tools to begin an authorial, artistic and professional path in the field of contemporary performing arts.

FIRST YEAR

Students are introduced to the world of design for the performing arts through critical theoretical research and the use of interactive tools in the workshop and the creation of multimedia installations. Students will have the opportunity to work on writing materials for stage scenes, to take part in practical physical training classes, to create audiovisual content that dialogues with space and bodies.

SECOND YEAR

The second-year subjects are mainly workshop-based, directed at imparting digital techniques and methodologies to students with particular emphasis on technological and multimedia productions and on virtual and interactive systems. Students will have the opportunity to become acquainted with multimedia design and contemporary dramaturgy practices and to learn about national and international performative production systems and develop digital and live performance projects.
