The NABA Rome Campus (via Ostiense 92) has been enriched with a second mural, titled NABA WALL 2, created between June 18 and 20, 2024, and inaugurated on July 4, 2024, during the Academic Year Closing event.

Under the artistic direction of Oscar Garcés and the technical coordination of NABA lecturer Fabio Giorgi Alberti, the mural was painted by students from the BA in Painting and Visual Arts and the BA in Graphic Design and Art Direction. The participating students were Giuseppe Abbisso, Amira Batori, Saray Bisegna, Sara Cerrito, Regina Fernandez Moreno, Natalia Lucia Hurtarte Martinez, Diletta Pelino, Arianna Pontil Ceste, Valentina Rumore, and Beatrice Tamburro. The mural was based on a design by Valentina Rumore and Beatrice Tamburro, students of the BA in Graphic Design and Art Direction.

NABA WALL 2: the workshop, the winning design, and the jury

 The visual proposal for the final mural was conceived by the two students during the NABA WALL 2 workshop, curated by the artist Oscar Garcés, held during the intensive activity week in November 2023. The workshop, open to all Bas and MAs students enrolled for the 2023-2024 academic year, either individually or in groups, provided participants with the opportunity to learn the key aspects of creating a mural and to develop a visual proposal for the wall enclosing the campus courtyard, in front of the new Building B, inaugurated in December 2023.

Among all the submitted works, the proposal by Beatrice Tamburro and Valentina Rumore was selected by a jury composed of:

  • Federico D’Orazio, Creative Director at Industrie Fluviali;
  • Silvia Simoncelli, Head of Education – NABA Rome;
  • Caterina Iaquinta, BA in Painting and Visual Arts and MA in Visual Arts and Curatorial Studies Course Leader - Rome Campus;
  • Dionigi Mattia Gagliardi, BA in Graphic Design and Art Direction Course Leader - Rome Campus;
  • Francesca Amato, Student Life NABA Rome;
  • Annalisa Polli, Communication and Events Specialist;
  • Alessandra Previti and Claudia Nurra, student representatives of the NABA Rome Student Council.

According to the jury, the authors demonstrated skill in using graphic language to convey the vibrancy of the Academy. The choice of abstract forms and colour references allows viewers the freedom to construct a new illustrative architecture each day, avoiding didacticism and ensuring that the composition never becomes mundane.
